Which of these do you actually need?
Most people land here with a symptom, not a service name. Match the situation to the page that answers it.
| Your situation | Start here | What usually happens |
|---|---|---|
| No heat or no cooling right now | Emergency HVAC Repair | Call, then start with the repair page for your system type. |
| Heat pump runs on aux heat all day | Heat Pump Repair | Usually a defrost, refrigerant or outdoor fan fault. |
| System is 15 or more years old and needs a big repair | HVAC System Replacement | Compare the repair price with a full replacement. |
| One room is always too hot or too cold | Duct Repair & Sealing | Ducts first; zoning or a mini-split if the ducts are sound. |
| House feels clammy in summer | Whole-Home Dehumidifier Installation | Check the AC sizing and drainage before adding equipment. |
| Buying a house | Home Buyer HVAC Inspection | Equipment age, condition and duct check before closing. |
Central air conditioning: what each job covers
Most cooling calls in Middle Tennessee are a split system: a condenser outside, a coil on top of the furnace or air handler inside, and copper lines between them. When it quits, the cause is usually electrical (a capacitor or contactor), airflow (a filter, a blower, a dirty coil) or refrigerant (a leak somewhere in the coil or lines).
Pick a repair page when the system is failing, a replacement or installation page when it is old or missing, and the tune-up page if it runs but you want it checked before July.

Heat pumps: what each job covers
A heat pump heats and cools with the same outdoor unit, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration counts it as the main heating equipment in about 35 percent of Tennessee homes. In winter it moves heat in from outside air, defrosts its own coil, and leans on electric heat strips in the air handler when the weather turns sharp.
Repair covers defrost, reversing valve and heat strip faults. Installation and dual fuel cover new equipment, including pairing a heat pump with a gas furnace.

DetailsFurnaces and gas heating: what each job covers
Gas furnaces heat many Nashville homes on a gas line, usually paired with central air. Ignition and flame-sensor problems lead the winter calls; cracked heat exchangers and venting faults are the ones that matter for safety.
This group also covers air handlers (the indoor half of a heat pump), gas line work for furnaces and appliances, and gas fireplace service.

Ductless systems and ductwork: what each job covers
Ductless mini-splits heat and cool rooms the main system never reached: additions, bonus rooms, garages and older houses without space for ducts. Ductwork itself decides how well any system performs, and much of it in this area runs through crawl spaces and attics.
Choose duct replacement or sealing when rooms are uneven or the crawl space ducts are sagging or disconnected; cleaning when the system was run through a renovation or the ducts are visibly dirty.

Air quality and controls: what each job covers
Long humid summers and dry heated winters both show up indoors. A ducted dehumidifier, a crawl space unit, a whole-home humidifier, better filtration or a fresh-air ventilator each solve a different problem, and the wrong one solves nothing.
Thermostats sit here too, because a heat pump needs a thermostat that knows how to manage backup heat.

Whole systems, new builds and commercial: what each job covers
Full replacements, new construction, mobile home systems, home-purchase inspections and light commercial work each have their own sizing, access and scheduling questions.
Emergency repair sits here as well: the call for any system, any hour, when there is no heat or no cooling.
